The D&W Power Desk is responsible for assigning locomotive power to all trains using the following guidelines. 


MIXED FREIGHT CARS:
1 - 15 cars = 1 or 2 locomotives at head end
15 - 30 cars = 2 locomotives at head end
30 - 45 cars = 2 locomotives at head end and 1 helper unit 30 cars back
45 - 60 cars = 3 locomotives at head and 2 helper units 30 cars back

INTERMODAL:
1 - 15 cars = 1 or 2 locomotives at head end
15 - 30 cars = 2 locomotives at head end and 1 helper unit 20 cars back
30 - 45 cars = 2 locomotives at head end and 2 helper units 25 cars back
